Leah Clapper and Megan Skaggs named CoSIDA Scholars for All Americans



GAINESVILLE, Florida – Gator Gymnasts Leah Clapper i Megan Skaggs both are academic selections from the first All-America At-Large academic team of University Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA).

Florida is one of two programs that place two on the first All-America At-Large academic team. The large team pools named student-athletes for the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, tennis, swimming and diving and water polo.

Florida CoSIDA Academic All-America Notes:

Clapper in 2021:

  • First Balance Bar Team in America at the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season Awards
  • Conference from all over the Southeast
  • He became Florida’s ninth 10.0 for the balance bar to win Kentucky’s double event title
  • Shared Feb. 26 with the Auburn Beam victory with his teammate Ellie Lazzari to the almost perfect 9,975
  • Shared victory of the final of the final of the NCAA of Athens (9.95)
  • Graduates summa cum laude on Saturday with their bachelor’s degree in advertising. He will continue to look for a professional master’s degree at the Faculty of Journalism and Communications of the UF.
  • SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year
  • SEC Academic Honor Roll

Skaggs in 2021:

  • He won the All-America second team honors for all (39.55), lap (9.875) and unequal bars (9.8875) in the I. NCAA semifinals.
  • According to unequal bar teams across America and regular season awards from the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA)
  • Conference from all over the Southeast
  • Third in the second regional round of the NCAA Athens with a best 39.65. He has also been runner-up after matching the collegiate bars better by 9.95.
  • Best Matching College Floor (9,925) in the NCAA Regional Finals
  • SEC Gymnast of the week after a couple of wins in Arkansas: all (39.50) and balance bar (9.95 – best college). First global competition since 2019.
  • SEC Academic Honor Roll
  • He returns to the Gators gymnastics team for the fifth season in 2022. He graduated summa cum laude in the summer of 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and is now pursuing a master’s degree in entrepreneurship.
